On the 30th of April, the Hepatitis B Free team visited the Epping Community Centre to raise awareness about Hepatitis B and to provide quick and efficient blood tests to test for the Hepatitis B surface antigen.
Whilst we were doing these two things, there were various presentations to the Korean community of Epping about general health practises (for example, first aid). The Korean Nurses Association was also present, and they were testing blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
We had a number of volunteers with us on the day, all from very different backgrounds. It was really interesting to go to a health awareness event where language barriers were visible. It was a good opportunity to see how important good communication skills are, especially non-verbal ones.
